Nausea as a constant symptom is most often the result of bowel problems. Usually this is reflux (throwing) of acid from the stomach into the esophagus. Nausea occurs in ¾ of all women during pregnancy.
If you experience nausea, you need to pay attention to several factors: whether there was a sharp increase in temperature, whether there was a delay in stool or bloating. All this can talk about intestinal obstruction.
A sudden attack of nausea, and then vomiting, is an occasion to think and look for the cause that provoked a similar reaction of the body. For example, something is stuck in the esophagus or there is damage associated with a caustic substance or intestinal obstruction. So, nausea, which appears against the background of stool retention, may be a sign of a bowel tumor.
Moreover, nausea is not always associated with problems of the gastrointestinal tract. For example, inflammation of the inner ear (the vestibular apparatus is located there) will also be accompanied by severe nausea.
Nausea can occur in stressful situations. In this case, it will be caused by an external factor unrelated to the ingestion of something into the body. There is an interesting pattern: before a person feels nauseous (even with a psychological factor), his stomach begins to contract.
It is necessary to remember what has changed recently: did the person take new drugs (for example, antibiotics or contraceptives), did he have heartburn. A stressful situation two to three days before the appearance of nausea could be its cause.
There is no universal cure for nausea. There are antiemetic drugs – for example, Motilium. Pregnant women are given vitamin B6 to prevent nausea.
Sometimes you need to see a therapist. The fact that nausea occurs situationally, for example, when the boss calls or when the stomach twists during an examination, indicates that a person cannot cope with emotional stress.
