Idrinol and Mildronate, the choice of drug

Only the attending specialist can decide which medicine to choose, taking into account the characteristics of the patient’s body, age, existing diseases and the desired effect that should be achieved from taking the drug.

If both medicines are allowed to be taken, then based on the cost of generics, it is more practical to choose a Russian analogue.

Idrinol and Mildronate are medicines that are often prescribed in the treatment of diseases associated with circulatory disorders, with increased physical exertion. Which of the drugs is more effective, safer, can one completely replace the other.

Idrinol

The main active ingredient in Idrinol is meldonium. The medicine is available in Russia in the form of capsules containing white powder and ampoules for injection. The last option is prescribed by doctors much more often.

Idrinol belongs to the group of drugs that have an activating effect on metabolism, providing tissues with energy, stimulating the central nervous system. It has high bioavailability – up to 80% when using capsules, 100% – after injection of the solution.

It is used in the following conditions:

  • In acute, chronic disorders of cerebral circulation. For effective rehabilitation after heart attacks, strokes.
  • Psychological, physical overloads. Athletes during long workouts.
  • Combined therapy for myocardial infarction, chronic heart failure.
  • To relieve withdrawal symptoms (complex) in the treatment of alcoholism.
  • Recovery after operations.
  • To improve the body’s overall resistance to stress, infections, stress.
  • Atherosclerosis. Treatment of diabetes mellitus (part of complex therapy).

Idrinol is contraindicated in cases of increased intracranial pressure, for patients under 18 years of age, the presence of malignant neoplasms, pregnancy, an individual allergic reaction to the components of the drug.

The medicine is easily tolerated by patients, but in rare cases, mild negative effects were observed:

  1. Nervous arousal, pressure drops, tachycardia, headache.
  2. Allergic skin reactions to Idrinol components, nausea.

Capsules of the drug are recommended for use in the morning, as well as injections. Treatment is prescribed only by a doctor after passing the necessary tests, a thorough examination of the patient’s body. The drug is excreted by the kidneys, for its greater effectiveness, simultaneous administration with diuretics should be avoided.

Mildronate

The active substance in the composition of Mildronate is also meldonium, due to which the drug is used in the treatment of circulatory disorders, depressive states, to increase energy reserves, body resistance. It is produced by the Latvian pharmaceutical factory in the form of gelatin capsules and injection.

Mildronate

Mildronate has shown its effectiveness:

  • In the treatment of chronic alcoholism, as an additional tool.
  • For recovery after heavy physical exertion in athletes, increase the body’s resistance to infections.
  • Recovery of cerebral blood supply after strokes, heart attacks and so on.
  • Supportive care for patients with diabetes mellitus.
  • An auxiliary drug in the treatment of depression, psychological disorders.
  • In ophthalmology to improve blood supply to the retina.

After a long reception of Mildronate, especially without observing the dosage recommended by the doctor, the following are possible: nausea, emotional overexcitation, in exceptional cases – edema, headache.

The drug is prohibited for the treatment of pregnant women, until the patient reaches the age of 18 years, in the presence of an individual allergic reaction of the body to the components of Mildronate. The last dose should be taken no later than 5 hours before bedtime. Concurrent use with diuretics should be avoided.

General properties of Idrinol and Mildronate

The action of the two agents is due to the properties of their main active substance – meldonium. They can be called typical generics, equally effective, one can almost completely replace the other. Idrinol and Mildronate have proven themselves excellently in restoring impaired circulation and improving metabolism. The list of side effects from their intake is also almost identical. The main contraindications of drugs: pregnancy, therapy of patients whose age has not reached 18 years, individual intolerance.

Differences of drugs

The main difference between Idrinol and Mildronate is their cost in pharmacy chains. The medicine produced by the Russian company is half the price of Mildronate. At the same time, the latter is considered a more studied drug with less pronounced side effects and, in this regard, better tolerance. It is also used to treat depressive conditions after a stroke, chronic alcoholism. The medicine gently affects cognitive impairments, restores the psycho-emotional sphere.
