After Pregnancy

Greenslopes Obstetrics and Gynaecology supports you in settling your new baby into your life. Your doctor will arrange for one of our qualified midwives to visit you in your own home* shortly after you leave hospital.

Our one-on-one post-natal support is tailored to suit the needs of each mother and baby we visit. Everything Shelley and Gillian do is focused to help you to feel assured and build your confidence.

The first visit is made by Shelley or Gillian and is free of charge. Subsequent visits, made at your request, are undertaken by Shelley; patients will incur a cost but may be eligible for a Medicare rebate.

Shelley Guthrie and Gillian Hermosilla are trained to provide the very best in post birth care, including:

  • breastfeeding support
  • artificial feeding advice
  • postnatal check of mother
  • postnatal check of baby – including weighing and measuring
  • newborn settling techniques
  • emotional support
  • parenting information
  • referrals to other practitioners, if needed.

* Patients within a 30km radius of Greenslopes Private Hospital are offered a home visit. Patients outside the 30km radius are offered an in-rooms consultation, or an in-home visit with the cost of travel paid by the patient.
