Sumamed Forte: application instructions and analogues

Sumamed Forte is a potent antibacterial agent, prescribed for serious diseases of infectious origin. The drug belongs to clinical and pharmacological group of antibiotic macrolides (azalides).

Pharmaceutical form and active ingredient

The medicine is made by the Croatian pharmaceutical company in the form of granules, Packed in a dark glass container 50 or 100 ml.

Standard bottles contain 16,740 g or 29,295 g active ingredient azithromycin dihydrate. 5 ml of diluted product contains 200 mg of antibiotic. Package includes special syringe or 2-sided spoon for accurate dosing in the process of preparation of suspension.

A subsidiary of the ingredients is sucrose that it is necessary to take into account patients suffering from diabetes.

Pharmacological properties Sumamed Forte

The antibacterial activity of Sumamed Forte due to suppression of the biosynthesis of protein of bacteria.

Azithromycin exhibits antibacterial activity against gram-positive and gram-negative aerobic organisms and some anaerobes.

The dosage Sumamed Forte for children

The suspension give the children 1 time per day 1 hour before meals or 2 hours after.

In infections of the respiratory system adults appoint 500 mg Sumamed Forte 1 p/day.

For children the dosage is determined by calculating 10 mg of the drug per 1 kg of body weight per day. Duration of the course admission – 3 days (total 30 mg/kg).

In chronic migrating redness therapy duration – 5 days; for adult patients on the first day give 1000 mg and then another for 4 days, 500 mg.

Young patients on the first day of the course requires 20 mg/kg then 10 mg/kg until the end of the 5-day course.

When pathologies of the digestive tract associated with Helicobacter pylori, appoint 1 g per day in combination with two antibacterial and antisecretory drugs (triple therapy).

If diagnosed STDs in the absence of complications once assigned to 1 g azithromycin. If urethritis or cervicitis is severe and complicated by chlamydia, recommended to take 1 year with weekly intervals (total of 3 g for the full course).

For the treatment of long flowing urethritis/cervicitis complicated by Chlamydia trachomatis, appoint 1 g 3 times with an interval of 7 days.

Side effects

The majority of patients (>99%) transferred treatment Sumamed Forte without complications.

In case of individual hypersensitivity not excluded allergic reactions urticaria, bronchospasm and angioedema. In severe cases not excluded anaphylactic shock.

Overdose

In case of an accidental excess of the prescribed dose is not eliminated nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and transient reduction in the severity of auditory perception. Victim symptomatic treatment.

Sumamed Forte during pregnancy and breastfeeding

Sumamed Forte with alcohol. In the period of the course of treatment, the intake of drinks containing ethanol are strictly contraindicated. After taking azithromycin a few days it is advisable to refrain from drinking alcohol in order to avoid unwanted effects. Therapeutic concentration of antibiotic in tissues fixed for more than 5-7 days after completion of the course.

How to prepare the suspension Sumamed Forte:

  1. (200 mg/5 ml – 20 ml): in a vial, containing 800 mg of azithromycin, add 8 ml of boiled water.
  2. (200 mg/5 ml – 30 ml) in a vessel with 1400 mg of azithromycin add 14.5 ml of water.

The diluted antibiotic is to be stored for 5 days. Before use the bottle is thoroughly shaken for 1-2 minutes to obtain the most homogeneous liquid.

The dosing syringe that comes with the drug, need to disassemble, rinse and thoroughly dry.

Interaction Sumamed Forte with other drugs

Antacids can slow the absorption of azithromycin.

Tetracycline and chloramphenicol potentiate the action of azithromycin.

It is not excluded vasospasm during parallel administration with ergotamine and dihydroergotamine.

The conditions of storage and sale

Sumamed Forte listed in “list B” (powerful drugs, so its purchase will need a prescription.

The medicine should be stored at a temperature in the range from +15° to +25°C.
