Berodual and salbutamol, the choice of drug

The active substances of the drugs in question are well compatible. In this regard, it is allowed to use them simultaneously, but observing a certain sequence. The best option can be considered a combination of systematic inhalations of Berodual and the use of Salbutamol in emergency and emergency situations. Night attacks are one such case.

In order to avoid undesirable consequences from joint administration, the scheme of such use should be agreed with the doctor.

From the point of view of comfortable use in the fight against asthma, salbutamol is more preferable. The aerosol in the drug is already prepared for use, it manifests itself quickly and acts quite effectively. If cramping occurs, it can be considered an emergency aid. In turn, Berodual, in the absence of contraindications, has an advantage as a medicine for long-term treatment: it does not develop drug dependence and has a shorter list of negative effects on the body.

In bronchial asthma, spasms of the airways occur from time to time, causing asthma attacks. Among the large group of drugs that in this situation are able to expand the lumen in the respiratory organs and facilitate breathing, Berodual inhalation solution and salbutamol aerosol are widespread. When choosing a specific drug for the treatment of the disease, many are interested in the question: which remedy is more effective and whether they can be taken simultaneously.

Berodual

It is considered a bronchodilator drug, which, expanding the bronchi, facilitates the patient’s breathing. It contains two active components: ipratropium bromide and phenoterol hydrobromide. The first substance has a local effect, relaxing the muscles where the medicine comes in direct contact with the tissue. The second component is absorbed by the bloodstream and, due to a targeted effect on the body, produces an expansion of the bronchi.

Berodual

Release form – metered-dose aerosol for inhalation. If the patient is prescribed long-term therapy, then a single dose is 1 or 2 inhalations, and per day – no more than 8 injections of the substance.

Salbutamol

This is another bronchodilator drug that has a quick effect. However, it has a short duration of action, therefore it is unsuitable for the prevention of asthma attacks. The most popular form of release is an aerosol for inhalation. The recommended daily dose is 3 or 4 times for 1-2 inhalations. Subject to the indicated dosage, it does not adversely affect the cardiovascular system and does not increase blood pressure. It can cause the expansion of the coronary arteries.

What is common between drugs

First of all, two medicines have the same indications for the following diseases of the respiratory organs:

  1. With a change in the structure of the lung tissue, which is caused by the inflammatory process.
  2. In case of manifestation of bronchial asthma – a chronic disease in which spasms of the respiratory tract occur.
  3. With obstructive bronchitis, also causing spasms of the bronchi due to the inflammatory process taking place in them.

You can note the same type of side effects, sometimes resulting from the use of Berodual and Salbutamol:

  • Headache and dizziness.
  • An increase in heart rate to tachycardia, spasmodic changes in blood pressure (in case of violation of the recommended dosage).
  • Involuntary muscle contraction of the limbs (tremor). This condition often leads to patient nervousness.
  • Nausea accompanied by vomiting.

Among the contraindications for use, one general reason can also be distinguished: individual intolerance to the components of drugs.

The main differences between drugs

The differences begin with the release form. Berodual is made only in the form of an aerosol and inhalation solution. The second medication, in addition to these forms, is available in the form of powder, capsules, syrup and tablets.

The difference between drugs is noticeable in their cost. If salbutamol can be purchased for 120-130 rubles, then another drug is sold by the pharmacy chain at a price about two times higher.

There are differences in the use of drugs in childhood. Salbutamol is contraindicated in children under 2 years of age, and Berodual is not recommended for children under 6 years old and is permitted with caution in the age of 6 to 16 years.

Each medicine has individual contraindications during pregnancy. Berodual is prohibited in the first and third trimester of bearing the fetus, and the other medication in question is not recommended during the entire period of pregnancy. It is especially dangerous if there is a chance of spontaneous interruption, as well as during breastfeeding.

Salbutamol has more negative consequences that are absent in the second compared medicine:

  • A medication can provoke allergic processes.
  • It can cause drug dependence in a patient.
  • Cases of heart failure have been reported.
Which medicine can be considered more effective

In order to give preference to a specific drug and choose one that is optimal for combating bronchial asthma and other serious respiratory diseases, it is important to know the positive aspects and disadvantages of each of them.

The advantages of Berodual are:

  1. Possibility of use in the 2nd trimester of pregnancy.
  2. During the period of breastfeeding, the use of the drug is allowed.
  3. The number of adverse reactions is less than that of the second medication.

Benefits of Salbutamol:

  • It has fewer contraindications for use.
  • The dosage form allows you to use the aerosol immediately, while inhalation of another agent is done using a special device – a nebulizer.
  • This aerosol has a lower cost.
