Anaprilin or Concor, drug choice

Both drugs belong to the group of beta blockers. It was for the creation of this group of substances that scientists were awarded the Nobel Prize. There are two types of blockers: non-selective and selective. “Anaprilin” refers to the first. This means that it acts on two types of beta receptors: beta-1, which are in the heart, and beta-2, located in the bronchi. “Concor” acts only on the receptors of the heart, that is, cardioselective.

Blockade of beta-1 receptors is expressed in the form of a decrease in heart rate, a decrease in reverse resistance, expansion of blood vessels, a positive effect on the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system, the vasomotor center, and increased resistance of the heart muscle to oxygen deficiency. Betablockers also prevent myocardial remodeling, which occurs with coronary heart disease.

Proved a positive effect on the course of diabetes. Both drugs are included in the list of vital and essential drugs.

Also, both drugs are contraindicated for atriventicular block 3 and 4 degrees, therefore, before use, you should consult your doctor.

In selectivity lies the main difference between the two drugs. One of the first was synthesized propranolol, which became part of Anaprilin. Then the pharmacists did not know how to ensure the selectivity of the drug. Having a positive effect on the heart, blocking its receptors, anaprilin also affects the bronchial receptors, causing their spasm. This is practically not noticeable for healthy young people, but it is extremely dangerous for patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and bronchial asthma, as well as for smokers with experience.

An important negative point of taking non-selective beta blockers is a pronounced reaction to stress, smoking, large doses of coffee, which are manifested by spasm of blood vessels and, as a result, the opposite effect is an increase in blood pressure. That is, patients taking Anaprilin should limit their coffee intake and preferably quit smoking.

There are also publications according to which selective beta-blockers give a lower percentage of sexual disorders when they are used.

Nevertheless, the issue of cardioselectivity is still being discussed by leading cardiologists and scientists. The fact is that cardioselectivity is still a conditional concept. This effect is achieved only with submaximal dosages of the drug. When using “Concor” in high doses, however, a small effect will be exerted on the bronchial receptors. The solution to this problem may be combination therapy, in which small doses of Concor will be prescribed in combination with other antihypertensive drugs.

The positive side of “Concor” is its long-term effect. The drug quickly reaches an average concentration in blood plasma, while it has a pronounced antihypertensive effect and reduces the heart rate 30 minutes after administration. The action lasts for 24 hours.

The treatment of arterial hypertension, coronary heart disease, cardiac arrhythmias is a difficult task. One of the most commonly prescribed drugs is Anaprilin and Concor. Many say that these are two identical medicines, only one of them costs a penny, while the second is many times more expensive.

Anaprilin

Anaprilin is just the brand name of the drug. It is based on the active substance – propranalol – a non-selective beta blocker. It is one of the first synthesized substances from the class of beta blockers. Available in a dosage of 10 and 40 mg. A package of 50 pieces will cost the buyer about 15 rubles. On the pharmaceutical market there are analogues called Obzidan, Hemangiol, Anaprilin Medisorb, which cost a little more.

Concor

“Concor” is also the trade name of the drug, the active substance of which is bisoprolol. It has a selective effect. There are two types of dosages: 5 and 10 mg. The cost is in the range of 300-600 rubles per pack of 50 pieces.

Concor

What’s better?

It is extremely difficult to answer this question without taking into account the clinical picture. As a rule, the treatment of antihypertensive disease is not limited to one drug, therefore it is extremely important to consider the compatibility of the two drugs.

Cardioselective drugs are valued more, so very often “Concor” is presented by doctors as the best choice. And indeed it is. Therapy “Concor” will be safer and more effective, will allow you to lead a familiar lifestyle.

Nevertheless, the Concor is several times more expensive than Anaprilin. Given that patients with high blood pressure, coronary heart disease are mainly retirees, the purchase of expensive drugs is difficult for them. In this case, it is better to buy a penny Anaprilin and take it constantly than to spend money on the more expensive Concor and stop the therapy after a while.

Unfortunately, Anaprilin begins to “disappear” from the pharmaceutical market. Why does not renew deliveries no one knows. This is probably due to the fact that most people prefer to buy Anaprilin, which costs 15 rubles, than Concor for 500 rubles, and this is extremely disadvantageous for pharmaceutical companies.

Thus, Concor is a more preferred drug compared to Anaprilin.

In conditions of money shortages, Anaprilin therapy is possible, but it is worth remembering some of the complications on his part, as well as consult a doctor about the absence of contraindications. Given the current situation in pharmacy chains, it is better to purchase the drug in advance.

It is also worth remembering that in some regions these drugs are issued free of charge according to federal programs.
