Causes of development, manifestations and therapy of lordoscoliosis

Lundoscoliosis is a pathological condition when the lordosis in the lumbar region, which is present and in the norm, becomes more pronounced, or, conversely, more flattened. And the disease manifests itself only in the lumbar region, as in other departments of the spine such a bend does not happen.

Causes

Conditionally, lordoscoliosis can be divided into primary, which appears due to problems with the vertebral column itself, and secondary, which will appear due to this or that pathology of the hip joint.

In childhood, the main reasons should be considered:

  • Injuries of the spine in the lumbar region.
  • Cerebral palsy.
  • Rickets.
  • Dysplasia of the hip joint.

In adults, the disease develops for other reasons, among which:

  • Fracture of the lumbar region.
  • Osteochondrosis.
  • Herniated disc.
  • Spondylolisthesis.
  • Tumors, including metastasizing in the vertebral canal.
  • Bechterew’s disease.
  • Achondroplasia.

No less frequent causes can be infectious lesions of the spine, for example, tuberculosis, syphilis, gonorrhea, and also defeat in such systemic diseases as rheumatism or red lupus, which once and for all is impossible to get rid of.

And, at last, the reason can become and pregnancy, especially developed on a background of already existing pathologies of a back.

Symptoms

The lordoscoliosis has its own specific symptoms, which will be manifested even when the angle of curvature is increased, and when it is somewhat less than the norm.

The first thing that will be complained of is pain in the back, increasing with any physical activity, whether walking, running or climbing a ladder. It will be easy to notice and the existing posture change. Here there will be features such as the back of the buttocks and pelvis, widely spaced legs and belly, which protrudes forward.

Another important manifestation is the rapid fatigue of the back, which is especially pronounced in the sitting or lying position, as well as the inability to sleep on the stomach due to severe pain. And, finally, you can not ignore the change in gait, which is called “duck”.

If the disease has gone too far, and a person does not receive any treatment, then the symptoms become more pronounced.

Especially noteworthy are such manifestations as:

  • Numbness in the legs.
  • Bad sleep and insomnia.
  • Deterioration of an erection.
  • Severe pain in the abdomen.
  • Constipation.
  • Violation of urination.

Without adequate treatment, the disease progresses quite rapidly and often causes very serious complications, among which the most frequent are disorders of the pelvic organs, mobility of the vertebrae, compression of the spinal cord in the spinal canal.

Diagnostics

Correctly to diagnose the traumatologist or the orthopedist can only. Diagnosis is based on the patient’s complaints, on his external examination, and also on radiographic photographs.

However, such types of diagnostics as CT and MRI of the back are also irreplaceable.

Treatment

Treatment can be conservative and operative. Drug therapy involves the use of anti-inflammatory and analgesic drugs, which can be prescribed to the patient in a variety of forms – ointments, gels, tablets, injections. For example, voltaren and indomethacin give a good effect.

It is mandatory to use drugs such as neurovitamin and neurorubin, which contain B vitamins and are important for the nervous system.

It is also necessary to use muscle relaxants, for example, mido-kalma, which help to relieve muscle spasms – the main cause of pain.

Physiotherapy and massage are good, but only beyond the period of exacerbation. If you ignore this rule, you can severely damage your back. The same goes for manual therapy and exercise therapy. During treatment, you should wear either a bandage or a corset, which is selected only by the attending physician.

But it happens, when such therapy does not give the desired result, and then operative treatment is performed. At the same time, doctors try to straighten the pathological bend with a special design. Today it is completely safe and requires only a few small cuts.

Prevention

To prevent the appearance of lordoskoliosis, if all the diseases of the back are treated in time, pay great attention to posture, give up sedentary work, avoid hypodynamia and normalize body weight.
