Why educators mock kids in preschool

Recently, scary news has been appearing on the Web almost every week that many children are being abused in many preschools. A frightening trend is gaining alarming momentum.

Today, sending a child to the garden, parents cannot be one hundred percent sure that the child will not become a victim of violence. Woman.ru tried to figure out what the root of the problem is and what to do to protect your baby.

Kindergarten teachers increasingly allow themselves to abuse children

On February 16, Russia was shocked by the news that a three-year-old girl died in a Moscow kindergarten. According to media reports, the teachers forgot the baby on the street during a walk and only two hours later found her unconscious there. Journalists immediately wrote that the girl died due to hypothermia, and the blame for all was the negligence of employees of a preschool institution. The teachers denied their guilt, claiming that all the children were supervised by two teachers. The director of the school, which runs a kindergarten, suggested that the girl’s death occurred for biological reasons.

The baby’s father told reporters that he sometimes noticed bruises on his daughter’s body, and she herself recently didn’t want to go to the garden, because “they offend her.”

A day after the incident, SK denied the version that the girl froze for a walk. According to the representative of the Investigative Committee, after the child had an attack, she was immediately transferred to the room, and in anticipation of an emergency nurse rendered her first aid. A preliminary version of death claimed by doctors is cardiac dysfunction.

Many babies do not want to go to the garden, claiming that there they are offended

The investigation has yet to figure out this tragic story. However, without waiting for the results, the public has already reached its verdict. This is certainly wrong, but popular arguments are simple and reinforced concrete: there have been too many recent stories of adult abuse of children in kindergartens.

We used to believe that bullying is a story exclusively about school. Moreover, teens are often harassed not only by peers, but also by teachers. By the way, according to the law “On Education”, a teacher can be dismissed if the fact of using emotional or physical violence is proved. What about kindergartens?

While the conditional seventh grader, who understands what is good and what is bad, can complain to his parents, the defenseless kid, who also speaks with difficulty, is silent to the last.

Because of this, in pre-school facilities throughout the country, children continue to be harassed.

Each of us in childhood changed several teachers, and most of them will probably be able to remember a woman who made them eat semolina with lumps, drink nasty jelly and lie still during a quiet hour. But now we are not talking about this, but about egregious cases of human cruelty, when the health of a young child is in danger, and his psyche can remain crippled for life. We will tell resonant stories that have happened in Russian kindergartens recently, and also ask psychologists if it is possible to prevent trouble.

Girls forced to eat food from a garbage can

At the end of 2015, in the city of Zheleznogorsk, Kursk Region, a scandal flared up around one of the kindergartens. During lunch, the two girls refused to eat the chicken and threw the rest of the food into the food waste bin.

Seeing this, the teacher took the meat from the bin and put it on the children’s plates, ordering it to eat, otherwise it would be “worse”.

One of the pupils refused, and the second ate, because she was frightened. The parent of another child, who was an observer and could not help but share with the family, told the girl’s mother about the incident.

The teacher asked the girl’s mother not to write a statement to the police

The woman wrote a complaint to the teacher, after which she came to their home and asked not to give cause to the case. However, the mother of the child did not back down. The prosecutor’s office connected, which soon proved that the incident really happened: this was confirmed by other teachers of the preschool institution, as well as parents of the pupils who learned about the incident from their children. As a result, the kindergarten paid the family of the girl thirty thousand rubles in compensation for non-pecuniary damage, and the teacher was dismissed.

Children were pricked with push pins

But in the preschool institution of the city of Kansk, teachers Nadezhda and Anna chose medieval methods of dialogue with children. Non-pedagogical measures of exposure included damage with push pins. Moreover, a color gradation was provided for punishments: for a petty prank, they slightly pricked with a white button (for example, if the child does not want to sleep), and for serious misconduct – red. There were practically no traces: parents attributed everything to random cuts and allergies. At the same time, the teachers urged the children not to tell the family about the punishments, threatening that mothers would be punished if they found out about problems in the kindergarten.

Due to the fact that the teachers pricked the kids with buttons, many small scars remained on their body

It turned out all at random in the spring of 2017. One of the girls, being at home, began to prick the doll with a needle, calling the sharp object “assistant”. Mom explained to the baby that the toy was in pain, to which she replied: “Well, in the kindergarten they do it, which means that I can.” After that, the woman talked with other parents, who, after talking with the children, confirmed terrible guesses. One of the mothers also remembered that the child was trying to change clothes without her and flatly refused to let her into the bathroom. The kids told amicably that the teachers have “evil assistants” who monitor discipline. According to the guys, Nadezhda and Anna stabbed them in the buttocks (probably so that no one noticed the marks in the family), which left small scars on the body. The teachers partially admitted their guilt and quit, but the investigation is still ongoing.

According to Nikita Vlasov, a medical psychologist, one of the reasons teachers can mock kids is because educators themselves could become victims of violence in childhood.

“The psychological trauma inflicted in the distant past can“ recoup ”in the present on the most defenseless victims – animals or children. This fact is well known to criminologists, because many criminals had a difficult (in the sense of violence) childhood, the expert says. – But the mechanism that ensures the “transfer” of early experiences from the past to the present is not fully understood. It is not yet clear what this is: a banal revenge, an attempt to gain strength “here and now” and to compensate for one’s own inferiority complex or a kind of “psychotherapy” of one’s wounded inner child. ”

Children were threatened with knives and sealed with tape

Last fall, in the village of Klimovo, Bryansk Region, a teacher of one of the preschool institutions was convicted of child abuse. For two years, a woman systematically applied brutal methods of upbringing to children: she beat babies, threatened with violence, showing them syringes and kitchen knives, took away food, and too talkative guys… taped her mouth with tape. For disobedience, the woman put the kids to bed in a cold toilet room.

The woman who mocked the pupils received a sentence of correctional labor

After the prosecutor’s check, a criminal case was opened. As a result, the court found the woman guilty of a crime and sentenced her to three hundred hours of compulsory work with the deprivation of the right to engage in teaching activities for a period of two years. And in the meantime, we are concerned about the question: is it possible that after this time, as if nothing had happened, she will again take up her duties?

Children washed toilets

Probably many of you have heard a story that made a lot of noise at the end of November last year. In one of the sports schools in St. Petersburg, 10-year-old gymnasts were removed from training and forced to clean the toilet, which they allegedly stained. The words of the girls that they did not do this, the head of the department of rhythmic gymnastics ignored.

This “army” method, it turns out, is popular even in kindergartens! At the end of last year, it became completely by accident that one of the Samara pre-school institutions educators forced the kids to scrub the toilet in punishment for disobedience – for example, if they could not fall asleep during a quiet hour.

The mother of one of the pupils, who told her about the bullying that he was subjected to with a friend, appeared in a kindergarten. The teacher only shrugged, responding: “Yes, do not worry! Your son washed for the first time. But another boy washes the toilet on an ongoing basis. ”

The boys were forced to wash the toilets because they could not fall asleep during a quiet hour

As a result, it turned out that the parents of the second pupil did not know anything about the brutal methods of raising their child. He, by the way, later told that he was forced to wash not only the toilet bowls, but also the sinks, for which he was pulled by the leg from the bed during a quiet hour. As you might guess, the kindergarten management denies all the charges. Employees argue that the whole matter is in the conflict between parents and caregivers, and the children actually “just showed how to wash the toilet.” Moreover, the head of the institution began to threaten the mother of one of the boys. As a result, both affected families wrote letters to the Commissioner for Children’s Rights under the President of the Russian Federation, Anna Kuznetsova, as well as her Samara counterpart, Tatyana Kozlova. It is not yet clear how the case will end, but, most likely, the kindergarten faces only a fine of seventy thousand rubles.

Nikita Vlasov suggests that another reason why educators use SS methods is because of their weak ability to empathize with another living being.

“Persons diagnosed with“ dissocial personality disorder ”have emotional dullness and give the impression of indifferent, cruel people. Recognizing them can be quite difficult, especially when the defect has not yet developed into the stage of a pronounced disease. Numerous studies have shown that such asociality is a consequence of the pathology of a number of brain structures (amygdala, mirror neurons, etc.). In other words, these are people whose “immorality” has not so much a social nature associated with upbringing as a biological nature, ”the expert said.

The boy froze his hand through the fault of the teacher

Another egregious incident occurred on January 30 this year in Perm. A three-year-old kid frostbite his fingers on the street due to the fact that the teacher basically did not want to let him into the room. It turned out that during the walk the boy lost his mitten and remained in the cold and wind with his bare hand. The kid burst into tears and asked the teacher for permission to enter the building, because he was in great pain. To this the woman refused, and after the whimpering baby repeated the request several times, she shouted at him: “Shut up!”

The child was not given first aid. The teacher called his parents only after the boy’s fingers began to harden…

In the emergency room he was diagnosed with “frostbite of the first degree”, which, possibly, will turn into the second, and prescribed a long-term treatment.

The teacher apologized to the family of the injured baby and admitted that she screamed at him so that he would not frighten away other children with his cry. On the fact of the incident, a check is carried out

Children were taught dog teams

On January 31, almost all of the Russian media wrote that in one of the Yekaterinburg kindergartens, the teacher Elena arranged for the children a real concentration camp regime. Shortly before her exposure, the mother of one of the pupils shared her suspicions with other parents: “My child once knelt in front of me and asked me not to take him to the garden. Later he told me how the teacher threw him on the bed, took off his pants and beat him with a spoon on the genitals with the words: “You are not a man, I’m the main one, you have to obey me, this is my kindergarten!” The boy also said that Elena hit him on the toes and knees with a spoon.

Kids often do not understand that the teacher’s behavior is beyond what is permitted, therefore they are silent

Other mothers also responded to this comment, who hastily had conversations with their offspring. The kids unanimously stated that the teacher beat them, strangled them, forced food into their mouths.

In addition, she poked the described children with her face in the puddle they left, put the pupils on a high cupboard, and also… she taught her to commands “to the foot!”, “To sit!” and “to me!”.

Psychologists who later worked with children confirmed that methods of violence were applied to the children. Parents are sure that three-year-old children could not have come up with this, but Elena herself (who, by the way, has neither a special pedagogical education, but also secondary education) denies any guilt. The director of the institution also claims that all charges are unfounded. Now SKR in the Sverdlovsk region is conducting a preliminary investigation of the kindergarten

How to understand whether your child is being bullied in kindergarten

“Children themselves are very emotional, so if your child does not yet know how to speak or still indistinctly expresses his opinion, you should first pay attention to his behavior,” advises the coach, psychologist, specialist in neurolinguistic programming Sergey Lang. “If the teacher offends the baby, then, as a rule, he closes in on himself, his regime goes astray, sleep is disturbed, attention and memory worsen.”

According to the expert, the first sign that the child is worried about something is that he began to communicate less with his parents.

How to know for sure whether everything is in order or is it worth worrying?

“Start talking with your baby:“ Do you like the garden? Who have you become friends with? Do the teachers understand you? “. If something bothers him, he will certainly tell about it. Watch the reaction. If the child has a bad relationship with the caregiver, at the mention of her name, he will begin to panic or worry. If all is well, then the reaction will be adequate, ”says Lang.

According to the psychologist, if a preschooler is tormented by panic attacks, he is in a state of chronic fatigue and goes to bed earlier than usual, this most likely indicates that he is being bullied in kindergarten.

“With children who already know how to speak, conduct an“ interrogation ”in a playful way. So you find out what his relationship with the team. Invite the child to choose good and evil animals, and then ask with whom his toddler friends are associated with him, and with whom – the educator. This makes it easier for children to communicate. Try to ensure that the answers are always detailed, ”the specialist insists.

We hope that these tips will help you understand what your child’s relationship with the caregiver is and, in which case, prevent trouble. And, of course, I would like to wish all children never to face the cruelty of their elders.
